JOB SUMMARY
Pharmacy Technician II, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, assists in various medication preparation and dispensing functions within the department. Pharmacy technicians will function in strict accordance with standard, written procedures and guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Mixes pharmaceutical preparations, accurately fills medication cassettes/orders according to computer generated documents.
Assists Pharmacist to prepare and dispense medication.
Restocks inventory and provides general maintenance of stock area including repackaging of pharmaceuticals and monitoring of outdated drugs.
Performs the essential functions relating to drug purchasing and inventory control
Performs aseptic compounding of parenteral admixtures and other sterile dosage forms. This includes the practice of aseptic technique , proper procedures for preparing all types of parenteral admixtures (including chemotherapy or other specialty solutions), the proper technique for visual inspection of parenteral solutions, and in the recording of product expiration dating.
Cleans equipment and sterilizes glassware according to prescribed methods.
Operates automated technology ( Automated dispensing cabinets, pharmacy automation, and IV compounders) in accordance with policy, procedures and manufacturing instructions.
Participates in the training and/or orientation of new pharmacy partners.
Answers and forwards telephone messages.
Delivers patient medication to patient care areas.
Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, & EXPERIENCE
High School Graduate
3-5 years hospital experience
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
Technician certification
