Under the supervision of the Director of Campus Safety, Security, and Risk Management, this position is responsible for responding to calls for security related needs and proactive patrols.
Work hours will vary based on coverage needs within the Campus & Security Office.
If candidate meets qualifications for being Armed, this position would be an Armed Security Officer, rate of pay would start at $25 per hour.
This part-time security positions will be scheduled to work Monday - Thursday from 6:
45 a.
m.
- 2 p.
m.
(23 hours per week).
Role may also provide evenings and/or Saturday as needed.
Coverage may be at Central Campus or outlying campus location.
This position will be open until filled, with a first review date of August 14, 2023.

Responsibilities:
Provide general daily security duties; including armed response (if qualified) (e.
g.
respond to human threats), lock and unlock doors, patrol hallways and parking lots to identify potential issues, check areas for unauthorized persons and follow up on suspicious activities, assist with disabled vehicles and lockouts) Maintain a positive and courteous demeanor at all times; practice open dialogue and understanding, and communicate with others in an honest, professional, and respectful manner Demonstrate a high level of awareness, good judgment, and critical thinking skills in all aspects of the position Participate in training staff on emergency procedures Act as first responder to incidents and emergencies.
Maintains a working knowledge of the College's Emergency Management Plan; establishes command and implements ICS on any significant crime, emergency, or other serious incident, in accordance with NIMS / ICS training.
May perform first aid and assist police, fire, EMS, and other responders.
Acts as liaison with local law enforcement agencies.
Participates in debriefs and critiques to ensure continuous improvement Check for maintenance related issues with building and the general campus.
Elevate items to maintenance team that need to be addressed Observes and reports activities and incidents, providing for the security and safety of district property and personnel.
Preserves order acts and to enforce College policies and directives Assist campus visitors, students, and staff as necessary Assist with the Student Security Team as necessary Assist with campus preparedness drills Provide basic life support as necessary Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act

Qualifications:
Associate Degree in Criminal Justice or related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education Two (2) years of law enforcement or security experience Preferred candidates who meet the Armed Officer Credentials outlined below.
Armed Officer Credentials, must meet 1 of the following credentials:
Qualified active law enforcement officer that has sworn authority as defined by the State of Wisconsin Department of Justice, Training and Standards Bureau or the federal Uniform Code of Military Justice; Is a qualified retired law enforcement officer who is supported by their home department to meet the requirements under the Federal Standard of HR218 the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act/ or Is a certified and credentialed firearms instructor under the State of Wisconsin, Law Enforcement Standards District Board (LESB).

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
